We give you the scoop on all of the horror and dark fantasy game announcements at the 2021 The Game Awards.

The Game Awards captivated video game fans on December 9, 2021 with horror and dark fantasy game announcements, world premieres and full game releases. We'll run down everything you need to know. Horror fans won't want to miss out on exploring and wishlisting some of these titles.

Work together or die together. GTFO is a survival horror first-person shooter four player hardcore co-op game developed by Swedish indie studio 10 Chambers. The game had its initial release on December 9, 2019, for Microsoft Windows, on Steam's Early Access to a positive user reception. Studio co-founder Simon Viklund annouced the game's full release at the event with a new trailer. GTFO is currently available on Steam at 25% off for a limited time and it's a perfect opportunity for new players to dive into the deadly underground prison.

Gun Interactive announced it's new asymmetrical horror game The Texas Chain Saw Massacre based on Tobe Hooper's 1974 genre-defining horror film. Gun Interactive had a hand in defining the asymmetrical horror genre nearly five years earlier with the release of Friday The 13th: The game. We've learned they will partner with Sumo Digital Nottingham, the award-winning studio behind Hood: Outlaws & Legends and Hitman 2 among other titles to bring The Texas Chain Saw Massacre to life.

The highly anticipated sequel to the action-adventure stealth game A Plague Tale: Innocence developed by Asobo Studio and published by Focus Entertainment released May 14, 2019 released its first gameplay trailer. A Plague Tale: Requiem will make its way to fans next year. Meanwhile, you can catch up with Amicia and Hugo's journey on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Windows and Amazon Luna.

The free-to-play battle royale game, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt by Sharkmob based on the popular tabletop role-playing game in the World of Darkness series was released as an early-access version for Microsoft Windows on September 7, 2021. In partnership with Level Infinite, Bloodhunt will be released on Playstation 5 and PC in Spring of 2022.

A game we're eager to play is Dying Light 2 - Stay Human releasing February 4, 2022. Publisher and developer Techland promoted bonus content in the form of a "Reach for the Sky" exclusive pack featuring a collaboration with Rosario Dawson, who will be featured in the game as Lawan when you pre-order the game. A new cinematic trailer was released alongside the announcement that quite literally gave us chills featuring what we believe to be a small taste of the soundtrack. Upon release the game will be playable on Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Developed by Japan-based studio Luminous Productions on their in-house game engine, Forspoken is an action role-playing game that blends dark fantasy with science-fiction as two worlds collide with the arrival of New Yorker, Frey to the land of Athia. While not exactly a horror game, this could be just what we need to replace our annual creation of yet another Skyrim character for a playthrough we probably won't finish. Square Enix will release the game in 2022 for PlayStation 5 and Microsoft Windows.

Remedy Entertainment announced that the highly anticipated horror game Alan Wake II after nearly a decade will be published by Epic Games, creators of Unreal Engine as a direct sequel to Alan Wake. The survival horror game will make it's way to the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2023. Pepare yourself for monsters. The game will feature an intense psychological narrative. Watch the offical game release trailer on YouTube. You got me with that jump scare Remedy!

British game studio, Ninja Theory gave us a first look at the gameplay for the sequel to critically acclaimed and BAFTA award-winning psychological horror and dark fantasy game Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. The first game took us on a haunting vision quest during the Viking age with Celtic warrior Senua who is struggling with psychosis. If you haven't played it yet, Hellblade is currently 75% off in the Steam store. The sequel, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II published by Xbox Game Studios is currently in development.

Have A Nice Death is a hand-drawn a 2D action roguelite where you play as an overworked Death, whose employees have run rampant, completely throwing off the balance of souls - and his vacation plans. In order to restore order, you'll have to grab your trusty scythe and show your employees who's boss. We'd bundle this indie into the "creepy cute" category of games. You can "Rest In Paperwork" in March 2022. Wishlist the game on Steam and stay updated on game announcements.

That's it. That's all we've got. If you don't walk away from The Game Awards announcements a horror fan with something on your video game bucklet list, what are you waiting for? Share with us what hororr and dark fantasy games you're most anticipating from our list!
